Android Dev Phone 2
Description
Google announced Android Dev Phone 2 based on HTC magic (T-Mobile myTouch 3G).
The Dev Phone uses an unlocked bootloader, which allows developers to install the system image of their choice. Retail Android devices such as the G1 only allow the installation of system images signed by authorised Android software makers. For example, the unlocked bootloader allows developers to install customised builds of the Android operating system, Google said.

Spring Design Alex – Android Dual-Screen eReader

Spring Design have just announced an ebook reader. Alex eBook Reader with a 6-inch E Ink panel and a 3.5-inch color touchscreen, based on Google’s Android platform can be great alternative to Barnes&Noble Nook eBook Reader.
Spec wise, the Alex supports Wi-Fi and 3G, and lets you save “Web grabs” to its removable SD card storage. Saved items can also be viewed on the larger monochrome screen. From the sounds of it, this “Link Notes” system also lets you easily annotate clippings.

The touchscreen can be used to browse the web and grab clippings, which can then be viewed on the e-ink panel. Spring Design have also developed what they call Link Notes, a hybrid of traditional ebooks, clippings, multimedia and user notes. Read the rest of this entry »

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10
Description
Sony Ericsson announced their first Android device - XPERIA X10 which runs Google Android 1.6 “Donut”.
The new phone is fairly similar to the ‘new crop’ of touchscreen phones, packing a super-fast 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 4-inch high resolution screen.
Specs wise, the Xperia X10 has jumped to the head of the Android pack, and has added in a new overlay that’s probably the most comprehensive among other competitors too.
As part of the X10′s interface, Sony Ericsson added two applications, dubbed Timescape and Mediascape, to the Android, following in the footsteps of Motorola, HTC and Acer, which have also tweaked the operating system for their own handsets.

HTC Droid Eris
Description
An interesting piece of news has popped all over the Internet. It looks like the Droid is not just the name of a single phone coming from Verizon but it’s going to be a line of phones. That’s why the Sholes has changed names so abruptly to the Droid. The phone in the picture is supposed to be the HTC Droid Eris also known as the HTC Desire.
The Droid Eris is supposed to arrive on November 6 but evidently we don’t have any pricing for now. We also have to confirm all of these before we get all excited about a new phone line. Because it looks like the Droid might be an Android phone line about to arrive from Verizon.
